Blakeburn Report

As of May 01, 2006 the Arrastra Creek Forest Service Road below the "Wilson", near the 1.5 mile mark is closed. This is due to fallen trees. Once the road crews clear the trees, users should be aware of ungoing brush clearing throughout the southern region of Blakeburn. Arrastra Road to "Downtown Blakeburn" is open and good. The Loadstone Road is now good but road upgrades and grading continue. As of May 04, 2006 few to no heavy truck activity has been noticed.

BLAKEBURN REPORT

It is my sad duty to report, that the Blakeburn sub-division of PIG ALLEY has been "Bull-dozed". It is gone, some portions of "Lower Tent Town" has also been destroyed by logging. There are indications that soon the Sports Field, Barnes Camp and even the Tram-Line near Tower 8 are threatened. Unfortunately Blakeburn is not officially recognized as a heritage site, as such we are helpless to save it. All this author can do is to encourage fans of B.C.'s history to visit Blakeburn while you can.
